Red Texas these days are very hard to get a hold of and when you do find one, they are very expensive. I found mine from a local hobbyist who no longer is in the hobby. However, what I have is a true texas that is not faded...it is has turquoise pearls. I got him hoping to breed my own "red" or "faded" texas with a king kong parrot.

Unlike the red texas, king kong parrots are much easier to find. When first introduced, they were quite expensive, but now very affordable...I prefer the ones that do not look like the deformed head of a regular parrot fish.

A similar fish comparable to the red texas are the Green Texas and the Carpintis Cichlid...both of which are not red in color but have similar patterns. I've considered these also in hopes of creating the more desirable faded texas.

There are a few places here that have them, but not sure about international shipping:

* AZGARDENS.COM is an online aquatic retailer out of Arizona.
* PETZONESD.COM is a local fish store out of San Diego, CA...they'll have king kong parrots for sure.
* AQUABID.COM is an international auction site (check under FLOWERHORN)

I've ordered fishes directly from Thailand into the U.S. involving a transshipper who quarantines the fishes for a period of time before shipping it to you. If you're not familiar with this process, you should look into this to avoid any unncessary travel expenses.

Good luck with your search and PM me if I can help...that is if I can.
