My interest in breeding has latley sort of revolved around parrots and crossing them with things, and my favourite cross with a parrot is the sb red texases out there and rainbow king. My Fene's not really been into bp or fh females lateley (at least all the ones I've tried),
so I've been considering trying to cross parrots with different kinds of texas in the future.

I've thought for a while of buying ten or so red texas babies from rainybetta in hopes to get a really nice one (as I love all the rt ive seen from them),
but if I did this, there would be leftovers. And these I thought I might be able to breed to parrots.

How possible is this?

I've heard that many red texas males are infertile,
how true is this? As they have the same problem as blood parrots
this would make a RT x BP spawning almost impossible.

How much more genetically disparate are red texas from regular blood parrots? or is the male fertility thing something they say because parrots of various kinds are most likley used in the red texas'es creation?

Has anybody a male red texas from rainybetta or otherwise
that has sucessfully fertilized eggs?

Or Should I be planning on selling all the males from a batch of fry?

Obviously, I would like to cross a male rt with a female bp,

but trying it this way, would I be wasting my time?

Or for more food for thought:

of the spawnings that have produced red texas x (KK)(B)Parrot hybrids (which I'm assuming most of you have seen),

Which paring has been more common/sucessful, or which ones have worked in the past?

Male, fertile Parrot x Female RT
or
Male, Fertile RT x Female Parrot

which is more possible?

Why would you want to breed a rt back to a bp I think a rt is a texas bp cross in the first place. Or are the rt's you have the result of the first time crossing bp texas. I have heard it is hard to find a fertile rt.

.

Specifically I'm talking about the ones from rainybetta,
which assuredly aren't just texas'es crossed with bp.
(they are at least several generations of different crosses)

but another thing:

So many "srt" I see coming out of thailand these days seem to be a stable brand of red fish with white pearl.
This (all-white pearling) dosen't seem to me to be a trait of carpintinis, which are mostly greed and blue (correct me if I'm missing something here about texas genetics), but
Is it a trait of one of these fish? I could see it maybe being from cyanognottum but I could just as easily see it not coming from texas at alll....

thoughts?

I just seen a 7 to 8 in for $545 and i about hit the ground that is crazy it was a good looking fish but there are so many other fish i could spend that much cash on.
