Picked this guy up today. A little rough looking but I hope he heals up quickly with pristine water conditions. Loads of personality.

Was not listed as any particular name.

Does this look like a red Texas or more flowerhornish to you?

Appreciate if anyone feels confident and why.

Thanks!

Probably a flowerhorn of some sort. Impossible to say what was mixed in, but that pink makes me think there is rose queen or vieja in it. The elongated face may be a parachromis trait, but it’s all just guessing what went in.

Thank you. Interesting take. Appreciate your opinion. He seems to have a bit of a underbite. Not sure what species tend to have that trait?
He goes around the aquarium snapping at things constantly and the audible click from his mouth snapping is quite impressive.

Thanks again.

No problem!
The underbite could be just a result of the excessive hybridization and inbreeding used to create such cichlids.
The clicking is cool!

Adorable little guy. Not seeing flowerhorn, but I am not an expert. Love fish with personality and the noise he makes is a bonus! Did you pick a name Yet? Maybe "Chatter Box" it sounds like..
