Red Texas project

Can anyone give me pointers on how to sex a parrot fish? I have a make carpintas i believe, no dorsal spot, and i want to make red Texas cichlids, also any pointers on how to breed the two together? Thanks

im pretty sure there is alot more to making a red texas than just these two fish, if it was these easy then im sure there would be alot more of them being bred by hobbist

I am aware that the fry from this pairing aren't going to be red Texas, but I've done a lot of research so far and this is the best recommended start

Yea, its an interesting project but this and the purple rose queen are two that I'm more than willing to take on

You'd have to take the parrot out of the water and check its breeding tube. Google "how to vent a cichlid". Males will be long and pointy while females will be wider and rounder.
