This is my Red Texas that I believe to be a female. She is a good inch longer than in this pic and getting a deeper orange/red color all the time.I was curious if anyone knows how to go about breeding her to get some super reds or if that's even how it works.I'll post some updated pics tomorrow. Also,I got her at 3" for $16.99...

I've read, that you have to re breed a red texas back the mom or dad. Also from what I've read in srt creation, a red female is used to provide red, and pearly male for the pattern and shape. If I were you I would try it with super red midas/devil or a fertile red parrot(if you can find one). But I think you'll loose some of texas features. BTW, Nice fish!

I just read that the female is typically the one that passes the red color and the male passes on the the pearl patterns.I'm thinking I'm gonna look for a nice Green Texas to breed her with. Let me know what you would do...

i would say a green texas would be cool im intrested in what it will look like

16.99? thats pretty cool.. most aren't that cheap...

Red Texas is a hybrid between King kong parrots and Carpintis, no Red Devils.

Ummm u sure? The link below says KKP has RedDevil in it!

If a RT or SRT is a cross of KKP and Carpintis, naturally RedDevil gen has already taken part. Besides, SRT gotta have a gen that helps them fade and a gen for red pigment base. Natural choice is reddevil/midas. After the basic formula, KKP and SRT created by generations of selective breeding.

red devil is not red enough and red devil x texas barely fades.
well my male carpintis has murdered the female and has been clearing gravel for kkp the past few months. Maybe the water is too cold they are not laying eggs.
