I'm on the edge of picking up some red texas from cjbarth, but how long can I keep lets say 10 red texas fry together before they start killing each other? Basicily at what age/size should I start seperating? Also if I do decide to pick some up, should I tell cjbarth to pick the smallest ones, since I'm assuming the smallest ones are more like mom and the bigger ones with more pearls would be like dad? Or is it just a crap shoot?

usually the ones with the double flowerline with pearls ar probably gonna have the best chance to produce a quality Red Texas.

.....sorry had to chime in. After the first batch, I learned a ton information on what to look for while selecting fish.

All of these fish are hand selected by me and i look for certain things (flowerline, pearls, signs of fading, etc) and I pick the ones that get shipped.

I try to do my best!!! In regards to the tank. How big is it? at about 3 inches, which will be around 100 or so days old, they tend to start showing agression. SO take that into consideration when selecting the tank size. YOu could probably have 10 in a 125 to 150 for a while, but I wouldn't bet on it not getting agreesive in the tank fairly soon.

.......just thought i would chime in on the thread.....let me know whenever you are ready!!! And if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!!!

I've got mine in a divided off part of my 125gal, the divided section equals about 30gals. They aren't anywhere close to 3", but they are definitely showing aggression towards each other. I've got six at the moment so its not really spread out, but there is definitely a pecking order.

I'd at least more the larger ones out as they grow to give the smaller ones a better chance to grow and catch up without getting picked on. :)

having similar size helps reduce aggression. If you have plants and rocks for hiding places, that can save some your fries...just from my experienced.
