red texas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Maybe one or two people in this whole website have actually picked out an actual red texas.
The rest have been inbetween texas and kamfa.
Good luck

Depends on what you are calling a real RT? For some time people have been breeding texas with any of the following - blood parrot, KKP, red devil and fader flower horns and calling the F1 progeny red texas on sale. Some fade, some don't and the fade may be complete or incomplete with a orange-red, pink or yellowish base. Many F1's are nice display fish in their own right but the males are usually infertile as are some females - probably less so where the texas is hybridised with a pearled fader flower horn with some texas parentage. The F2's are another kettle of fish (haha), where the female F1 of any of the above is mated with a male fader or other pearled flower horn with a good red colour base - then you start to get some really nice fish and male fertility and can start sibling inbreeding and establish some consistency in the appearance of the offspring.

That is the result of a quality rt. Rt projects are not that simple. Although Source310's first answer has an awfully wide range lol it is the most truthful answer. There are plenty of rt projects within this site to learn from... But most are just first generation crosses. Cj Barth is one member that is not within the first generation but I bet he still has late faders. I had one that didn't start fading until she was 2 years old... Almost sold her as a non-fader but something told me to hold onto her.
KeithB continued and explained the process well... But I'll just say you have to wait on the fish because they all fade at different parts of their lives. Good luck with your project and post some pics... Its all about individual progression.
