i was just wondering how would i go about trying to make myown red texas cichlid is it just a regular texas and say red devil/midas or would a f1 female festae work

mammon would be best and good luck on finding one. haha.

or better. Get rid of your tx and get a good somewhat red tx with lots of pearls and breed it to a parrot(red fish). One breeding of a reg tx and a red fish won't be so good yet.
Skip that(regular tx X red fish) and get a *RT* and breed to a red fish. Try a female red monkey. I think those are as good as a mammons if theyre fertile. A RED fish ok?
GL.
btw festeas wont work. Male festaes aren't red. Only females so they aren'T a pure red breed.

What happens if you breed that female festae with a male festae? You get pure festaes and females will grow up to be red and males will be green right?

What would you expect the males of your RT breeding to look like? Plus festaes got stripes? Parrots dont.

If only all festaes grow up to be intense red like the females then I'd think about it. But remember male festaes arent red. They are not a all red breed. Try a pure red fish.

Midas is one of the ones ppl use from what I've learned. But I don't think midas has the good red though. Theyre like peach! Just think of a cichlid that's as pure red as you can find. Be patient and breed with consideration.
