Red things in Pikes fin ( with Pics )

I just bought a new Odoe/african pike characin and when i go home i noticed he has a few elongated bumps on his fins rays

Any one have an idea of what they are ? Bacterial infection ? parasite ?

Onset of hemorrhagic septicemia. Do you have both Maracyn and Maracyn 2 on hand? What are the water parameters? How did you acclimate the fish?

I actually noticed it when he was in the bag one te car ride home

I acclimated him by floating the bag in the tank and takeing out around 10%-15% of the water from the bag and replaceing it with tank water every 10-15 mins for about an hour and a half

I don't have either Maracyn on hand

Parameters are as of 5 mins ago are nitrates= 40 nitrites= 0 ammonia= 0

Do water changes until nitrate lowers to 10-20 and get Maracyn. You need to combine both to make the treatment more effective. As always, water changes are your best defense. Is the source reputable? I'd be careful to buy from stores where fish are not well accommodated.

Will get right on the water changes and will get Maracyn as soon as i can ( hopefully i have some lying around ) cause i just got back from petsmart 5 mins ago walked right past all the meds to

The LFS is pretty good they take good care of there fish they did say it was wild caught but didn't say who they ordered it from all he said was he just got it in

I know i know i really should of put it in a QT tank but i just had to take my only one down to make room for a new 125 gallon
