red tiger mota and vieja argentea

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Argentea are good as long as they're not in with similar looking fish. Mines been fine with most everything. Motas aren't a very aggressive Parachromis, both would be ok in my book.

My argentea is close to 7" right now an is looking hot. I've not owned the "red" motas, just the normal variety.

I know Kevin had argentea the last few times I was there. Kind of small though.

whats their max size(argentea)? would my bp's be ok with one? and the boucorti?

so im taking it that the mota's arent the killers that dovii's are?

sorry for all the noob questions, i know basically nothing about cichlids that arent "common"

The max size of Argentea is 14." Check out my stocklist in my 125. My 10 inch male Argentea gets along with all those fish. He is pretty mellow. However, when I first got him, I tried a Gold Saum in the tank with him (they were the only 2 in the tank at the time), he picked on it a lot. An Argentea should be fine with a BP. Sorry, I don't know what a Boucorti is.

are you kidding me red tigers are one of the meanest parachromis.
and parachromis and vieja species generally get along as long as they
are not in a small tank

Mota's are highly agressive and are commonly known to be as agressive as Dovii.Just quite a bit smaller

Dovii>managuensis> then friedrichsthalii, loisellei and motaguensis are all similar.

Argentea will get about 14", red tiger motas will get about 12" for a male, 8" for a female.

It depends on the personality of the individual fish.

My Mota is very docile...so far.

the aggression of parachromis ranges hugely some are very mellow and others are strait killers and motas in particuler have a good set of teeth that being said its really hit or miss

never had an argentea but wouldn't mind haveing one
