This mota and this Texas are always together. They help each other against the Oscar and are very fond of each other. Of course the mota is a female, coloring gives that away immediately. Look at the video. She is ready to spawn and he is ready to fertilize. Is this possible? Can I have Red Tiger Texans coming? Should I separate them and see what happens? Maybe wait and see how far they wanna take it this time and separate them for next time.

Not sure if breeding is possible, but what a strange but amazing couple. They’re sure going to give breeding a shot. You can clearly see both fish’s sex organs completely extended. Both are beautiful. I’ve always wanted a mota, but never been able to find one.

This might be helpful for you. Since both species are central american they can spawn an have hybrid frys.

Texas are arguably the horniest of fish (I don't know, maybe given where they originally come from it's a machismo thing lol) -- they'll (try) to breed with just about anything receptive, that Mota's gonna be a mommy for sure :)

Uh oh! He looks like he’s staking claim. Any way to remove the devil?

Thanks for the feedback.
I'm looking at a used 75gal Saturday (prolly $130 for tank and stand) and I would then move the mota and the Texas to it. Until then, I only have a community tank as an option and it's my wife's fish so that's a no go .
On the plus side, the red devil is occupied for the moment and that is fine too. Question though, if I move mom, dad, and spawn rock will it destroy the family action? I could do a big water change into the 75 and even place a seasoned filter on it as well as some of the furniture from this aquarium to make it a seasoned tank.
