Agree with newworld, looks liken older female to me too.
Females tend to have a naked gill plate. like the one below
males usually have a number of small spots on the jaw and gill plate
Females also tend to have larger more solid markings on the body compared to males
Compare the solid marks on the female in the foreground to the smaller spotting on the male, in the background

Thanks for the responses. I thought it looked like a female as well. I was only questioning it because the current owner is telling me it's a male. I definitely don't need another male. The male I currently have is a monster. He now has his own 75 gallon tank. He's evil. Lol. He's probably going to be moved into a 125 soon. I am considering picking up this "female" to attempt breeding them in the future.
