Red tiger motaguense tank mates

So I am growing out 8 red tiger motaguense and 8 red terrors, I have a 300 gallon tank 8 foot by 3 foot by 2 foot and I was wondering what I could get away with in terms of tank mates if I I could put only female red terrors in there for less aggression or what, but what tank mates could work out

Hmm the motaguense and festae may not be a great combination, since they resemble each other pretty closely, especially females in breeding dress. You might run into some problems between those two. As for other tankmates, are you planning on keeping the 8 motags and 8 festae? If so, that is already 16 large aggressive cichlids, I would say nothing. Even if you only had breeding pair of each (if you could get that to work), those are two big nasty pairs. I would say maybe some convicts/salvini, if the pairs will allow it.

Just saw the post.How did the mota/festae project end up?I'm curious.
