I did some reading online and cant seem to figure out about motaguense.
Are Red tiger motaguense different from motaguense, or they the same thing. I read somewhere in here that they are totally different.

If they are different someone please post pictures. Thank you.:nilly:

they are the same fish scientifically but one has more red on it as far as i can gather, but with more research into cichlids going on all the time maybe one day they will prove to be a different species who knows?

so going to the LFS i should be looking for red marks if I want the red tiger? And what would a regular one look like?

if it's a red tiger it will be labelled as such as they tend to be a bit more expensive than the regular mota, well that's my experience

I seen one the other day at a LFS and it was Lable RED TIGER, this one is all yellow with a few black bars. Could this be a regular one? or not a motaguense.

Parachromis motaguensis is known as the Red Tiger Mota. I saw a gold variant once. But a Motagunsis and Red Tiger Motagunsis is the same thing they can come from different areas or river systems with a slightly different pattern but it's all the same fish. females are very colorfull with a lot of red, Males are less colorfull with red spots. I have two batches of fry growing out right now. The first batch is about two months old between 1/2 & 3/4" the second batch is about two weeks old. I really like Motas personality and they don't get too big. Hope this was at least a little helpfull.

At a small size reds and yellows are quite similar, you don't get the red until they're older. Below is a young red

Very good point. I was describing adults. When young they can be diffacult to tell apart. The gold or yellow IMO is not as nice looking as the Red but much less common.

You're lucky if you have an LFS that sales them. I have never seen them in a store. I've always been interested though. I've read that they are very aggressive.
