Can a pair of red tiger motas live for good in a 75gal by them selves? Don't they stay smaller like 12" for the male?

They will be fine in there by themselves. Males can get to about 12in. RTM's are one of the smaller guapotes.

That's what I was thinking...I never kept them but I am growing out 7 that are about 1-2"...just making plans for the tank room. Thanks.

They will be fine in their.

I will keep the divider in mind. I have not bread any kind of parachromis yet but I have these little RTMs and a 5" male and 3" female f1 yellow head freddie from jeff rapps that I have in a 125 gal. Think I would need a divider for the fredies in a 6' tank alone...they get a little bigger than the RTMs right.

They get very similiar sized. The RTM's are more aggressive though generally.

i have a ten inch male rtm and a 8 inch female loisillei that have paired up in a 75 gal and they had to be divided cuz of the male rtms aggression... a male rtm is one bad ass fish with a good set of teeth and can get as big as 12 to 14 inchs but they get very thick bodyed ... if you can get a bonded pair they will breed like convicts...

Yea I would keep a divider near by. In my short fish keeping my big male rtm is the most aggressive fish I have ever seen. There is no playing nice whatsoever, he just goes straight for the kill, and he is very good at it.

He was fine until about 4 inches then he snapped and cant be kept with anything even close to his size. He is in with some big brutes that are 2 to 3x bigger and I swear he is just watching the other fish waiting for an opening to kill.

HA....might stick them in a 125 is they are too rowdy on each other...maybe with some dithers. I dont mind using dividers but would rather have a tank big enough to not need it. So far my Festae do good in a 125...he chasers her a fair amount to breed but so far she takes it well.
