Ive had a red wolf fish for 2 months now. It ate great, shrimp and tilapia crickets etc. But lately he doesnt come out as munch and last time I saw him eat was was last week. Any ideas? Tank mates right now are 6 silver dollar and a silver arowana(8 inches).

How big is the fish? Does it appear sick or bloated? Poop color? How are the other fish acting? Water params? Gotta answer those first. Would vary the diet and back off of shrimp and tilapia. Try some massivore/carnisticks maybe 2-3 x per week and cross ur fingers.

Hes 5 inches, to me he looks a but flatter in color. Nitrite are 0 nitrate 20. The other fish seem fine. Hes more skittish than usual, hes never really been afraid of me now he goes crazy when im in front of it. Gonna change up the diet hopefully it helps. Thanks for the suggestions.

Just turn down ur lights a bit and give some cover if not there. Floating plants help as well. Will see what happens.

You know I have a problem when I woke from dreaming about ur question and had to reply back cause there maybe more goig on. I also wonder if it's due to ur arrow. They will become this way when they feel there's another fish to compete with and cannot get their dominance. Reds are not as aggressive as their bigger cousins. Eventually ull need a huge tank for that arrow but if u were to move him or the ery ery then it'll be back to what it was. Just my thoughts. Yes....some dream about women and wealth. For me it's my fish lol.

I agree ,think thats part of the problem too. I got a 220 in another room that I've been buying equipment for and im pretty much ready to cycle it but I need to get the floors done in that room (so I dont have the tank move it again). Hoping to have the floors done in October. I'll see if I can move him to my kids tank at least till the next month, hopefully he wont eat too many platys.

You're not the only one! But you have it spot on. Try to separate them and see if it changes anything. If not get back to us and we can try and come up with other possible issues with maybe more information

Plus one on that arowana being the issue. I had a purple that I just very recently parted with. He was always very active avid would beg for food constantly. At one point I added a similarly sized female festae growout and his behavior changed over night to what you are experiencing. As soon as I removed the festae he was back to himself.

So i put him in my sons 10 gallon tank with drift wood and plants. I know its a small tank but its the only one i had available that was cycled. he hasnt eaten yet, even though i put a few feeders in there to motivate him. i noticed he had some white/grey patch(didnt look like fungus) on his head. Those patches brought up another question, the pleco i had in my tank has been hanging out int he same tree trunk as the ery ery. Ive never had a pleco that ate slime coat before but would those white/grey patches and loss of appetite be indicative of that behavior ?

thanks for all the input guys i appreciate it.

It could be. They can do this if not fed appropriate or not getting fed b/c of competition. Is it hith? Maybe u can post a pic.
