Hi I have a red wold for around 2 month. Very active and 'healthy". i just realized after coming home today that There was one place on my wolf (under the top fin) that he had 2 or 3 'milky" transparent scales (or something else). there is also black dots on it. Looks kinda scary in my perspective. also for the black dot, there are plenty of them on the head of my red wolf and it is running to the back of him. someone told me it was natural. anyways, back to the the weird scales. Is that an injury that is healing (never seen my wolf getting injured like that), or is it amnonia poisoning (didn't chang my water in my tank for around 4 weeks but water is clear), or is it the dreadful fish turbuculocis (IDK) since he has wierd scale and has a bloat stoumach (IDK) (unlikely since my fish is feeling fine with no loss of appitite and wierd swimming motion). What ur opinion.

Thanks.

The scales are probably just an injury and will heal quickly, a pic might help though.

When you say your water is clear do you mean you tested it for Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates or it just looks clear? If you have a cycled filter you shouldn't get ammonia as the filter will convert it.

It's a fairly cycled tank after I changed one fourth of the water yesterday. The cylcled water looked clear. Also, the tank had a LITTLE bit of algea.

I guess what I am trying to say is just because your water looks clean doesn't mean it is. there will be disolved pollutants in the water particulaly if the filter isn't cycled fully. Even when it is you should try to change at least 10% of the water per week. to try to maintain a consistant level of these polutants particulally Nitrate, Phosphate both of which will contribute to algae growth.

I would go get a basic test kit, You can get strips that you dip in the water reletively cheap, although not brillient they will give you an idea of the Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels in your aquarium.

If you know all of this please let me know and I will shut up.

You should get some pics posted of your wolf.
