I think wolf fish is start to grow on me, I'm thinking about free up my 55g and the only wolf I think that'll be able to fit for life will be red hi-fin wolf fish. Will I be able to keep a pair of breeding convicts in there with the red wolf together? or 55g isn't big enough for that?
Right now I have an AC50 power head in it and a Fluval 405, will the current be too fast for red wolf? or that'll be ok? I can position them towards the top of the tank.
all suggestions welcome.
thanks

Definitely go with a Red Wolf.. they are great :)

I would not do a breeding pair of cons in with the red wolf. I've tried this and there is constant aggression between the two species. If you want a tankmate go with 1 or 2 Senegal Bichirs.

Filtration will be fine with what you have.

Thanks Mudfrog. Will those Senegal Bichirs be alright in the 55g for life together with the red wolf? assuming no aggression between them.

yes. You could also get different smaller polys, like palmas, retro, moke, etc.

Like said above i wouldnt do a breeding pair of cons but you could try a group of 3 female cons

i personally would try some polys with it senegal, Delhezi, palmas specie and retros are all great bichirs that will be fine a a 55 for a long time if not life

IMO it could work with the cons if you try it. ;)
have lots of hiding places and decor.
everything should be fine.
just keep an eye out.
if youre afraid for the wolf, get a few dithers.

I did try it ;)

In a 55 a breeding pair of cons will still try to attack anything in the tank, the wolf will attack back. Once the Red wolf gets large enough the female con will become lunch as they grow very slow.

i know it doesnt always work out.
but i would think a full grown pair would be i no danger of getting eaten.
also, thats why i said LOTS of decor to break up territories.
