i've been dreaming of red arowanas for a long time now...but i can't for the life of me get myself to fork out $1000+ on a single fish.

assuming that not all of us have money growing out of our ***es how do you guys do it? has it been worth the investment? regrets? worth every penny?

I think I speak for everyone if not most when I say "you cannot put a price on happiness".
Its that simple.

clearly you are not dreaming that hard, ey? i used to think that until i could afford some fancy asian aro morphs. when you CAN fork it out, you WILL .... yes, it means that several grand could have been spent on something else, but you CHOOSE to spend it on aros.

Regrets? buying them at the same time - it is stressful AND when the fancy children fight it is quite heartbreaking. The excitment is also diluted when you buy lots of them in one go - could have had excitment three times when getting one different morph at the time rather than all three once - oh well, done is done - they still kick @ss

yes i agree if you can get the fish you have most likly done the reserch, good luck with thet because big waste of coin if you haven't

Make sure you can afford it, especially in these times. Most shops here in Toronto usually let you put a fish on hold and make payments on it until fully paid off.

for me it is really worth it, considering that it will live with for around 10 years it will worthwile,

just 10? Id think a properly grown aro will live easily 20+ yrs

and to answer the OP, its all about passion. if you have passion for football wont u pay $200 to watch Cardinal vs Steelers front row seat? ITs the same thing...for someone who has no care in football will think that is an insane price...vice versa for the aros.. truly love that species, its bound to happen. if not, they usually just get a silver and it usually just dies from jumpin out or poor water condition...

so now theres financing fish? damn...I should move up there lol

bassicaly your paying 100 dollars per year of happiness that fish is giving you, even though your paying all 10 years at once lol.... thats how i look at it

You're not taking well enough care of your Aro if it's only living 10 years. Try like 25+ bud for a happy specimen. My friends dad has had one for 28 years.
