All my tanks have painted backgrounds mostly black and navy blue..
Had a 75 laying around I'm setting up for 2 egg laying Discus machines....

Has anyone painted their backgrounds Red? or Yellow ? Gloss? Flat?
Tried searching couldnt find any pics......

If you have a red /yellow background would you post a pic in this thread or a link where I can view?

Thank you

I used to have a tank that I painted with a tan texture paint. It looked like sand from the viewing side... I loved it!

I started at the bottom with a darker brown textured paint and faded into the lighter tan textured paint as it went up. Kind of looked like the tank was a lot deeper and light couldn't penetrate to the bottom.

Sorry, sold the tank (No pictures). My current tank does not have a back drop.

Thats a great idea thank you

imo in cant see red or any warm color looking nice. natural is the way to go

I would say no on those bright colors like red...there is some truth in expressions like seeing red, seeing blood...it is not a relaxing color...In fact, staring at a large red colored area will generally raise people's blood pressure...not what you want in an aquarium

I'll bet some dark browns and greens would look pretty natural. Pretty cool idea. Basically you've got clear, black or blue now....

Maybe even gray for an African cichlid tank....

Gray might be it I have a pair of 8" Blue Diamond discus are going in there..I was looking for an extreme contrast however that be more soothing as one MFKer pointed out .. tnx
