Hey everyone I was looking for information on how i should go about breeding red zebras. I hear they spawn in warmer water. I have a 3 to 4 in red zebra female and about a 2-2.5 male (blue :)). My water in my area is hard and i know that zebras are Mbuna so i have a rocky cave for thrm to hide in.

If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know please!

You should have atleast 2 or 3 females per male Red Zebra. After that, just do water changes and let nature take it's course.

Also, from what i've heard, it's rare to have a true blue male red zebra. A lot of times the "blue" red zebra is really a Cobalt Zebra (M. callainos). Just passing on info I have learned...

If they got good food plenty of rockwork and room they will breed.keep the temp at 79-80f And keep up on the waterchanges.

Well I have a 125g set up with Red zebras and and mixture of others. My zebras have been breeding monthly. I do weekly water changes and my tank temp is normally between 76 - 78. Been through a few batches, and now it's to a point where I just leave the mother in the 125g. And it's survival of the fittest

Since I posted this thread my fish have all gotten a little bigger. My female red zebras vent dropped down a little, and my red peacocks are about to breed again. I have a 3 gallon tank which I just broke down for a 10 gallon. Would it be safe to mix the fry?

A 10 gallon is gonna hold Mbuna fry for about a month MAX and they will outgrow it.. I reccomend at LEAST a 30g for a growout tank
