reddevil food

Does anybody have any live food ideas for my male reddevil.he is only 6.5 inches long but i think its cool to feeding him live stuff.what do u guys think about a crawdad(small one) in the tank for food.I mostly feed him cichlid gold and once in a while wax worms.Do u think he would eat feeders at that size

Small crayfish would be better than live feeders. Make sure that you get the crayfish from a river or stream that is not polluted. Even with that I would give them sparingly. Wax worms and meal worms are a good sorce of protein. Cichlid Gold is a good staple. You can add either raw shrimp or dried krill as well.

Feeders suck. Don't take a chance on loosing your pet over a ten cent goldfish.

would ham or turkey bring out colors in a reddevil.My reddevil seems to like ham alot.I kno their carnivorous so i tried it.

yeah crawdads are cool but mine loves earthworms/nightcrawlers he would eat them till his belly busted if i allowed it .i would not feed him lunch meat it ruins the water quality plus bad for the fish i have done it as well but just a few days ago we had thread on lunchmeat u should look it up.

Yea, lunch meat is bad for them, too many preservatives and chemicals, plus a lot of fat.

He would love earthworms, or feeders you breed yourself.

I doubt he will eat lettuce. peas are good as treats, keeps him regular.

Use Hikari Bio Gold+ or Regular Gold as the daily diet, and make sure you offer at least one Spirulina/algae/vegetable based Pellet food too. Personally I use Hikari Cichlid Excel, Bio Gold+, Food Sticks, and Cichlid complete.

Don't forget to offer frozen food once or twice a week too. Any brand is ok here, just offer variety. Krill, Mysis Shrimp, A vegetable based food, blood worms, squid, daphnia, etc. They will pretty much take anything. Just remember, everyone has their preferences when feeding their own fish. As long as they are getting a balanced diet with both protein and some sort of vegetable matter, that's the main thing really imo.

And as far as the lunch meat thing goes, I hope that was a joke as well. LOL!

Not trying to be rude, but are you aware it is red devil, not reddevil? Maybe its just me but it is really starting to bug me lol.
