If even one person comes out and says that a pair of these fish can happily live and thrive in a 40b then I’ll happily apologize to the op and say I was wrong and don’t know as much as them.
You’re looking at 10+ inches for both cichlids - 90 gallons for a pair is being generous. 125 minimum for a pair - maybe 90 for an individual but I’d still say 125 minimum.
They said they move the parents to a larger tank to breed them because breeding in a small tank would cause stress and aggressive behavior. While it’s true. Moving fish back and forth every other month is gonna do the same thing
