Has anybody breed Redfins i got two of them and one dont know how to tell the difference between male and female and would also like to know how to breed them. Thanks

Might only be possible in an outdoor, pond...in the wild, they spawn in the spring, so very cold water for several months followed by slowely warming the water may trigger spawning.

Ya I thought you might lol. I searched the web, but couldnt find anything on telling them apart, just some info on how they breed. Its in the spring, and the parents scatter their eggs into aquatic vegetation.

Maybe redfins are like northerns in that the females are larger than the males so if one gets bigger than the other we'll know its a female other than that i dont know...

Hey fisher did you know that northern females carry the eggs from summer after they breed until they breed again the next spring. Is that true with most fish species or just esox's?

Ive caught trout in the summer that had eggs, I think it just takes them a long time to develope them, because in the summer the eggs are nowhere near the size they are when they are layed.
