Short-lived. After a year, the redfish was killed by accident. My fault. It lived in a 300 gal 8x2x2.5ft. I decided to place the 3ft Indian shovelnose Sperata aor in the tank for a timeout (it had been bugging our piraiba for years and I had enough). I thought I'd take out the redfish if I saw the aor aggressive.
I stayed for an hour and watched. No problem. I went away for 2 hours, then came back to see the aor harrassing the redfish, biting it, to no end. Too late. The redfish died from stress in a different tank by next morning.
It was badly stunted. A year of eating 10x more than it had in its prior 4 years, plus meaty feed like frozen fortified herring, didn't result in ANY growth whatsoever. Same length. Only got thicker.
