I ordered 3 redhooks thorugh work. one came in tattered and torn, i didnt think he would make it but bought him neways. he is now doing much better. i figured his "hook" would eventually gorw back but it never has. it seems that i have a regular silver dollar. can anyone confirm.

and yes i know what redhook are supposed to look like.

READ THIS PART!
THE REAL QUESTION: do u think this one is a redhook, it came without a fin on the bottom and grown into this but hasnt grown a hook. do u think it will?

That is a regular silver dollar. There are many species of silver dollars that look similiar but the fish you have is definately not a redhook. Google redhook silver dollar for some pics! Too bad the place you bought from couldn't tell the differance.

easy there killer. try reading the first post again. i ordered 3, the other 2 have the hooks, i know what they look like. i was hoping this one would grow its hook back once it got stablized, and the place i got it from was "work" noone fault but my own.

IME the "hook" and fins will grow back but take a LONG time to start healing, then once you see it start to heal it will regrow fairly quick. I had one that was missing half its hook and chunks out of the tailfin for several months then all of a sudden healed completely in a week. It's the one closest in the pic I posted. If you would like I can try to find an old pic of the damage.

Sorry should have looked and read closer. Did'nt realize yours was already healed.

He healed up well. Lookin' good.

In my non-expert opinion, I don't think that's a red hook. But the size of the "red hooks" on mine definitely varies. I know you know what they look like since you already have some, so I'm only posting this pic to show that there is variation among the size of their hooks. One of them barely even has a hook. Check it out:
