So... I woke today with that itch... that itch which says 'I can make this aquarium look much better'

I scratched the itch and... Well, the results are below. I've tried to balance the brown wood with crypts on the other side... and the Tennellus needs to thicked up somewhat...

(apologies... i'm no photographer... and the water is still a touch cloudy)

and finally..., the bunch of tarts begging for food:

Had a soil layer under the gravel before, but it was leeching into the water column (water always hazy, filter wool clogged up all the time)... new substrate is 1 bag of argos play sand mixed with 1.4kg of JBL floropol, topped with another bag of sand. The light substrate is really making the most of my 'old fashioned' T8 lighting! :headbang2

For comparison... the old scape:

Your thoughts?

wow.... thanks.

I can see like, 10,000 things which need fixing though... lol

I love your new setup and your selection of angels. My favorite is that pearlscale in your avatar.

He's my favourite!

Got him from a shop where he was obviously ill.... but i could see he was a lovely fish... the shop guy didn't want to sell so I had to promise that if he died it was down to my choice to take him...

In good health now...

Bit of a finicky eater though...

Looks good, needs to grow in though. The crypts should be more centered, and fewer though, as they won't grow nearly as tall.

I want the E Tennellus in the middle to make a 'meadow' - the crypts on the left are to balance the brown of the wood on the right.

Agreed, there's a LOT of growing to be done!!
