Ok well, I've posted some pic's of this tank before, but i redid the whole lot, i think it looks alot better, and just rather unique compared to the layouts of my other tanks.
i like it but ideas from others can always help, and I'm forever searching to have the perfect tank with the way it's aquascaped and everything.
all of it's real rock, no paint or anything and real wood, not that painted wood stuff.

p.s. filters hiding a rather ugly sponge filter, and it'll be a while till i can afford a cannister filter for it. that's why it's there.

Ok so there in order, this post how it used to look, full tank shot then 3rd's.
second post how it looks now. full tank shot then thirds again.

!! I like that you took my advice and went to sand substrate. ;) Looks very nice man a huge huge huge change and way more appealing - Still can use some work, your def going in the right direction!

Something you may want to take into account - Your tall plants I don't know the name of them - like you said it will be awhile until you can get rid of the sponge filter so way don't you place your tall backround plants in the front left corner - In time and trimming and replanting you could have a thick wall which would hipe your sponge filter and your powerheard -- Just an idea.

I like it alot better now. Nice rock work.

tall plants i've got in my other planted, have only grown up not out. i dunno, i probably will remodel it again.
never lost a fish in the 30gallon esky yet :)
granted i do heat it and filter it lols. esky's also been my quarantine tank on more then one occasion.

you've got no idea the difference in my fish i've noticed, i actually see them now. instead of the shy, omg theres one, there all over the place... until i bring out my camera lols :)
and i did make sure there's plenty of hiding places :)
i think there showing there appreciation of there new home.

It looks great! The new substrate is soooooooooo much better than the old stuff. I like the idea of using plants to hide equipment. I do that too but I would move the power head (grey thing front left?) to the back of the tank. It's distracting when it's right in the front.

aaah it's hiding my sponge filter, and to me it looks better then having the sponge infront.
hold on, i'll get a picture of the side to show you guys what it's hiding :)

edit: Here it is :)
filtration hopefully is only temp, until i get enough money to buy a nice big cannister filter that will over filter like crazy :)
been hinting at it for christmas but :D

that looks very nice, i've become a fan of the sand substrate myself. pebbles are nice for goldfish but i like the more natural look.

i agree 100%
gravel came free why i used it. quickly brought back all the memorys of how much i disliked it.
sand looks better, and always seems alot cleaner. and is easier to keep clean in my experience.
