so heres the dirt sand and peat moss i got cost me 30 bucks and i got two new lights 45 watt halogen spotlight (will that be ok does not have hexagon on it) so cost me 47 bucks total



but since i live in the midwest its pretty cold and all of its a little frozen :nilly: and kinda wet actually really wet :nilly: so.... any idears of what i should do.

i used a big bucket and i just mixed a little at a time. if the enclosures are big enough you could just mix it all right in the enclosure. and play with the mix that way to get it how you like it.

and those lights should be fine.
 
i put a bag of dirt and a bag of sand in a sterelite container ill just let sit for tonight and after school tomorrow mix it up and stuff.
 
WOW!!!!! ok i have glass tops and there is some small gaps with just hood lights over it just for light and my water monitor climb up a log and got out through gap and i was lookin for him and he wasnt under his regular hide and he has no tunnels and i check under light and what do you know there he was so i moved the log lower and now im going to fill the gaps (i need to anyway)
 
thats the bulbs i use. i use the 50, 75, and 90 watt ones for diff setups.

i would use a screen. glass can be dangerous as it heats up alot faster ands stays alot hotter.
 
they only had 45 and 90 90 is alot for the depth of my tank

but then heat will escape! so which is it glass or screen
