If I added a school of six of these guys to my tank would I just be givng the polypterus an expensive meal? Or will they be fast enought to stay alive. I think they would be an awesome additon to the tank, but my gut feeling says they will almost defiantly get caught eventually. Anyone out there have any time of success with a small fast shark/ characin (anyone ever try congo tetras?), etc. Thanks

they will hunt them and eventually catch one but it could take 1 day, a week or even longer but they will hunt them. how big and what type of bichirs?

yeah, thats what I was thinking. I would get the sharks about five to six inches, but my fish are all ready 10 inches. I have a bunch of different upper and lower jaw species.

What type of bichir?

A delhezi or a senegalus might let them survive, if well fed. With an ornatipinnis or weeksi, they will have no chance.

Bichirs mostly hunt at night, when other fish rest or are less active. They can sneak close enough to a fish, to catch them, so speed of the victim does not make a difference.

Best greatings

Pencilfish are super fast. but I see at night, my Del. sometimes eases up on them slowly and tears off their back fins.
