So I just purchased an approximately 8in motoro a few days ago and as with any new fish I've begun treating him for parasites with praziquantel. He hasn't eaten for me yet, which also worries me a little, but I wasn't sure if this redness on his underside is normal or perhaps due to the parasite treatment. He is in a QT tank with sand and is the only fish in the tank. I do have previous experience with Rays but it has been a while since I've had one and I want to make sure all my bases are covered because I know how sensitive rays are.

If he's healthy and no pelvic bones showing you should be in good shape. If he's skinny you may want to feed him small earthworms to fatten him up till you can get him eating frozen tilapia. A healthy ray can't resist live earthworms. Make sure your water is better than perfect, and watch ammonia real close. It can spike in a hurry with a ray cause they produce 10× what any other fish the same size produces. Hope thi helps...just repeating all the advice I've gotten from the long time ray keepers on here. Sound advice, my rays are super healthy!

This is his current body condition, I'm going to pick up some worms tomorrow hopefully. He's active and interested in food just not taking it. I've been keeping tabs on water quality very closely so I know that isn't an issue.

Wild? Very nice ray. Not abnormal for a ray to not eat right away.

Was sold to me as a marble, I assume wild caught. I knew it would take a few days to settle in and get comfortable but as with any new acquisition I'm being a little overbearing.
