As the title states, my 125 is getting a makeover. I have grown tired of the black tahitian moon sand and it making my bottom dwellers dark and colorless. I will also be trying what's all the rage, and painting the back of the tank black.

What paint should I use for this?

I am also replacing the sand with Caribsea sunset gold sand. I am also shortly expecting a 52" piece of manzanita from Manzman for a nice center piece. Then I will replant and throw my large rocks back in. I cant wait!

I should have it done in the next week or two. I am selling my current stock and switching to a stock that I don't have to feed feeders. I am soooo over them and the crap they bring into my tank.

What fish should I get? [besides cichlids]

Questions/advice/criticism welcome!

I used Behr Interior Latex Flat black to paint the back of my tanks. I always paint the tanks indoors so I don't like using spray paint. I used a roller and a brush for touch ups. Took two or three coats to get nice coverage and avoid nicks from any equipment that may hang on the back of the tank.

What kind of fish are you interested in having? There is such a variety and everyone tends to gravitate to certain kinds.

Your water parameters may help you decide unless you enjoy messing with adding buffers.

cool i hope i get to see it up but as far as painting i hope you knew itd be nontoxic paint lol but try a flat black paint but i think itd do the same as black substrate..

Not too sure on the fish I want yet. But my other big question, the substrate plays a bigger part in your fish changing color than the background, correct? I have heard this more than once.
