Redtail catfish skin?

Hey, my redtail seems to be dropping skin or something? dont know how to explain it better anyone know what this is ? its white skin which is hardly visable . thanks

my shovel nose does the same thing all the time. i just thought he was shedding like a reptile or something like that.

it's the slimecoat, it'll happen alot over the time you'll own these guys so get used to it LOL

my lima used to shed his slimecoat every time he ate a big meal and my jurupari loved to eat it. never saw my redtail do it, although i only had him until he was 14 inches.

probably nothing to worry about.

i agree. mine did it when he hit this huge growth spurt.

we've always got slimecoat floating in the catfish tank..

everytime they play or fuss with each other big sheets of it fly off. And even when they don't move around a lot they naturally shed the slimecoat when it gets too thick.
