I want to buy a red tail catfish... and I want it to get BIG! But I need some advice on care for it. I obviously know that I will need a good filter becasue they are messy fish. But like decorations and what to feed it so it gets monsterious. If you could post pictures and give me advice that would be awesome, Thanks!

decor go with large rocks and drift wood if you do plants and thay dont like them thay will be destroyed and possibly eaten which can harm if not kill the fish. as for food just look at some of the threads search red tail cat and there will be hundreds of posts about them good luck

Decor I'd say dw is best bust as it gets bigger it'll need the space so even the dw is temp only. As for rocks I wouldn't reccomend it unless you wana use pebbles for substrate even even then it's eh...good luck with your fishkeeping. RTC's are awesome.

Ya bigger decor like rocks anddriftwood are best plants are messed up alot. Be caureful as it gets bigger it starts getting curious as to what it can eat, i know theres a dude here whose rtc ate his heaters suction cup

I would stay away from any décor (large rocks, caves, drift wood and such) due to the fact that the rtc will ram in them when scared. Plus, drift wood would take away swimming space for your cat. As for plants, large floating plants works for cover.

Ya i think pretty much all the decor will be temporary giving the rtc a place to hide and swim around when younger. When it grows big its gonna appreciate and need all the space it can get

As mentioned before live plants are not good. Mine's just a baby and he up roots and munches every plant I put in the tank. And whatever he don't eat he regurgitates it and other fish may eat it and they get sick from it because it has stomach acid on it, from the redtail. And make sure you get a huge tank the future. Because they grow fast and monstrous.

I got my redtail in june i think 2014 at 3 inches it went straight into my tropical pond and at present it is at least 34inches that less than 2 years!!!! Its growth was unreal check out my threads/vids.my biggest tip would be get it in a huge tank/pond for maximum growth even as a baby a small tank will limit its growth
