So the other day I found out my amazing b/f, who mind you does not like snakes at all... Bought me a red tail boa as a early Christmas present. He knows how much I love them and looked past all that hate and got me a baby one. :) I get him tomorrow, which I'm so excited for. Had me waiting since before Thanksgiving to get it.

Anyways, I just got a free 125gal tank the other day. Just the tank, I'm going to be making a nice secure screen top for it tomorrow. I was thinking of having two different like doors on the top. One on each end. I not sure what to do with all the space though. I know I want a really nice branchy looking thing going on, really natural looking. What can I use for the bottom that looks natural? I've seen those blocks that you can get, which one would be best? Is there any kind of greenery that I could have along the bottom with that?

Also, I'm wanting to know will I need just one heating light or a few to go across this tank? Is there a certain wattage I should get or anything?
The tank is 6'x18"x22"

What else do I need to get? Besides a water dish. I've read where heating rocks are a no-no. Anything else? Thanks

maybe infrared light for heat or under tank heater idk much about rtbs but if they can go on coco fiber you could plant philodendrons and tropical plants idk tho

use aspen or cypress mulch for them, whichever you prefer would be fine. a good sized UTH hooked up to either a t-stat or dimmer set at 90*f on one side along with an infared lamp or ceramic heat emitter sounds good. make sure you make the screen lockable and that you'll be able to handle a 10'+ snake.

they also need 2 hides, one on each side.

I agree with everything TheMIghtyOscar said. Just be sure that you are prepared to care for a large and powerful snake.
