I had been frustrated with blinding glare which made difficult to look at my tanks and to take pictures. This was produced by light bouncing back from the glass tops on LED-lit tanks (to an extent also with fluorescent lights). I came up with an easy and inexpensive solution that I want to share. Perhaps it may help others.
I used the black packing material that sometimes comes with orders from Amazon or others. Shipping and moving stores also sell this, which is like a cloth, with small holes, sold in rolls, and has perforations so one can rip-cut small sections. I tried 2 different types of same that I had saved (yep, I save junk which may come handy), and I also tried the stuff sold to line drawers so things don’t slide or clink too much. I liked best one of the two packing materials, which solved the annoying glare to my delight. I don’t glue it or attach it, just lay it over the lights and it stays in place fine. Pictures below: 1) a 125g with solution applied; 2) the 3 types of materials I chose from (all worked, but I ended choosing the one on the left top); on the right, the one used for lining drawers, which has holes slightly too large but still helps; 3) a detail of the tank top with the annoying glare, and 4) a detail of the tank top with the solution applied. Cheers!
