I am building a 75 gallon paludarium for mudskippers... I am going to use one of the Cascade canisters that I already have, my question is can I close off the intake and output valves slightly so the flow is reduced? or will this be bad for the motor or canister in the long run?? if it needs to be wide open I can probably make it work, and would rather not mess up my equipment... anyone ever done this??

My fluval manual says that anything lower than the half flow rate will damage the motor I am sure since it is the same type of equipment the rules would still be the same try to aim the spray hose into a rock or glass

If you do use a valve to reduce the flow make sure you only do it on the output. If you throttle the input then the filter can run dry which would burn it out. Like F1 vet said, try a spraybar before you attempt to use valves to slow down the pressure.
