Hi.. I just purchased a new Reed Fish (11-12 Inch) 2 days before. For few days i have planned to isolated him in Fish Tank ( 2ft X 2ft X 1.5 ft ) with water level only 12 inch from bottom of tank, with 2 small pipes and 2 big caves for hiding.
*** after a month i will set him in ( 6ft x 2.5ft X 2.5ft).. since there is huge fish in that tank.***

Please help.. He is not eating i have dropped some blood worms & he always keeps hiding and fairly comes out of caves.

I am worried about his health... More over he tries to jump out.. bcz i heard noise of jumping frequently.

If you have only had him for 2 days, I wouldn't worry about it. The move can be stressful. On top of that, they do better in groups. Give it time and lots of cover.

Yup, they take time to settle.
Also, they are happier in groups. So if you can get another 2 or 3, it will be better in the long run.

Yeah I would watch him carefully. They seem to find a way to get out of everything. I would also maybe try and shorten that month to where he goes in to the big tank. He'll just continue to try and jump, because he feel really cramped in that smaller tank. As far as eating, give him a couple more days. Once they change tanks/ environments they tend to not eat for the next couple days.

Thanks.. But in India its really hard to find reed fish. Many shop keeper are un aware of their name. I was justly lucky found 1 piece, that to seller was not ready to accept that its different species than Bichirs. In my life i have seen this for 1st time alive, and my friend circle are daily visiting to see him as its 8 wonder of world.

Thanks once again..
Today morning he ate 4-5 thick blood worms in front of me.. and jumping has nearly stopped.

Nice pics of 8 the rope fish. Get some more as they like to be in groups as already mentioned. Would advise to get a heater gaurd just in case.

Need some advice..

I am planning to put him in Main Tank.. 6X2.5X2.5 dim.

It has Albino Red eye Gaint Gourami 11 inch.. He's a gentle gaint. But it also have 16 inch Ornate Bichir (female).. she is pretty nasty & has killed her partner when she was just 5-6 inch.. Can she tolerate him ?? OR will kill him, bcz rope fish is just 10 inch and hardly 3-4 mm.
