i have a reef octopus skimmer rated about 600 gallons i believe? however the bubbles will not reach the collection chamber, any ideas how to fix this?

I have a reef octopus as well.. it's currently sitting in my fish room unused, but the important thing about these skimmers is the pump. Is it getting enough air injected into the chamber?
How are you using it in your sump? Is it elevated? If so, reduce the elevation.

it has the twist tube but it goes from not getting bubbles to overflowing the collection chamber. sorry no pics but there is nothing obviously wrong. no its not elevated much, the water level in my sump is about 3 inches below the neck
