Seems like I can't catch a break! I just purchased this pump used a couple of weeks ago and hooked it up for the first time yesterday. Not only do I have to "jump start" it every time I plug it in, it is also making waaayyyy too much noise!

Take a listen and see what you think.

I do not have experience with this particular pump, but if it was my pump, I would dismantle the pump and sand the part of the motor where the carbon comes in contact with the motor ( name escapes me.) Sometimes the carbon gets dirty and the motor doesn"t run or run as efficient. Sometimes it needs replacement. Check moving parts for play and see if it needs lubrication.

I have the same pump running on my 225, and it is almost silent. It make only a low hum. They are easy to disassemble, there is definitely something wrong with yours. Best of luck.

it could be the impeller?? bouncing off the inside of the housing...mine made that noise on my magnum 350 when the impeller came loose from the magnet...a little epoxy, dried for 24, reinstalled and everything is quiet and back to normal...

yeah something is not right.. not sure what but something is mos def wrong

I had it running nearly 48 hours to see if the noise went away like it stated to do on the reeflo website. Both my wife and myself (and my dog) have barely had any sleep over the past 48 hours. If anything I think it is getting louder.

Looks like I am going to be waiting a few days to start my cycle. :(

yeah sounds to me like the impeller is slapping or the insides of the housing, get that thing apart soon before it breaks apart and your FORCED to do it....ive seen pumps like that getting hot and the case cracking and leaving you a puddle you cant blame the dog for... :)

Reeflo listened to the pump, said the bearings are bad in it. The bearings are not replacable in the Fasco motor so I had to purchase a new pump. It should be here by Friday.

It does suck though, I paid $150 plus shipping for the bad pump.

You might still be able to replace the bearings. I went through this crap with a regenerative blower I bought a while back. Couldn't get bearings from the manufacturer but after a few stops at bearing shops I came up with some that would work.

Sorry about your luck...... I know I learned my lesson about buying used pumps, OR a "new" one off Ebay.... Best to buy direct from a manufacturer or authorized sales establishment. I bought a new one off Ebay and the manufacturer would NOT warranty it.
