Reeflo Orca 250 protein skimmer

Anyone use this skimmer?? What are your thoughts?

Also I found one for sale from a buddy but the pump is dead. A new pump for it is $350. Can I upgrade to a stronger pump than the stock but with a different brand and cheaper? Or will i need to use the Reeflo dart pump?

the pump is 350$? it barely turns anything out as far as flowrate. What a rip. lol

at any rate in place of major mods to the device or spending 350$ for a new on have you asked around local repair shops on what they would charge to fix it. (try your local pool supply store if you don't know any, they'll know someone who fixes pumps.)

then weigh that against what your buddy wants to charge you and go from there. The unit looks nice, but a bit pricey. If you can get the pump repaired cheap and your buddy cuts you a deal you'll have a great skimmer on the cheap (well relatively on the cheap).
