refigium help

hey guys

ive decided to build a refugium in my sump, its a 55gal. all i need is a light hey?
also what plants do u suggest that are low maintenance and suck up nitrates

From experience I have found the messier the plants the better they are at removing some of the nitrAtes. If you are trying to "suck up" the trAtes consider looking at an algae scrubber, do a search on it here.

I have switched my refugium to low maintenance low light plants. Vals, Wysteria, swords and included some floaters. It works okay at reducing the trAtes some and it gives me a place to grow out cherry shrimp.

I have some Jungal val in a small planted tank that took a while to get going but now it grows crazy and keeps the nitrates low. Wysteria i've had in the past and it grows even faster (uses more nitrates) but it want more light and CO2 to do really well but without CO2 and a lot of light it should still grow
