Looking for a little help here. I'm trying to locate a nice quality refractometer for some White Sands pupfish we have on display here at the Las Cruces Museum of Natural History. The entity we work with through New Mexico State Univ strongly recommended we purchase one, albeit months ago, but I've been unable to locate a refractometer with a parameter they listed - the ability to accurately read 0-36 ppt. All refractometers I've researched thus far have been 0-100 ppt (± 1 ppt), which makes sense to me given they are more often used for saltwater setups and other high salinity purposes. Basically I need to be able to accurately maintain our pupfish water at 6-10 ppt salinity and the instant ocean gravity hydrometer just doesn't cut it (tendancy to have the arm stick to side).
The last e-mail I received from our contact at NMSU said they'd look into the specifics, but I haven't heard back. I appreciate the help from this person, but also understand they are busy with their own research, NMSU fisheries chapter, and course instruction; among other things. So I come to you wonderful folk for some insight.
