i am looking to start a refugium and i cant find any of the macro algae thet i see everywhere. i heard it was illegal now. anyone know anything about this?

All Caulerpa sp. are illegal in California because they are considered a noxious weed.
If you can't get algae from your LFS check out eBay. The sellers there have a good selection of algae. One seller is always running a refugium stocking special, with macro algae, starfish, live sand, snails, and worms.
LiveAquaria.com has some Macro algae, but they seem to be out of stock a lot. In fact, I've noticed that most of the places on-line seem to have most macro algae out of stock right now.
