Question a refugium. If I was to have a smaller side by side tank next to my 75 and wanted to make it a planted refugium with a pump taking water out of the main tank and a pump putting it back. How could I keep the tanks from overflowing if i have a pump failure on the return pump back to the main tank?

check valve?

just need a siphion. a "U". as long as they are the same height. the siphion will only work till the water levels equal. aqualifter pump to keep the "U" air free.

best bet would be to use a common sump....

The correct answer to do it that way is that you never leave the tank.

But I'd put an overflow on the tank instead of the pump (two pumps will never work).

This is the overflow design you will need to make it work.
