So I've got out of control algae. I've been doing tons of water changes, and nothing. I've decided that I'm going to do either a refugium or an algae scrubber. Which one do you think would be best? Easiest? Cheapest?

29g is not a big tank so an algea scrapper will be the easiest. However, the question is: how did you get the algea to grow out of control in a small 29g tank in a first place?

He said algae scrubber, not scrapper. An algae scrubber is basically a screen you grow algae on, it will reduce nitrates and actually reduce the amount of algae in your tank.

I'm guessing this is a SW tank, right?

Anyway, I'm going to go ahead and assume it is SW. I really like those biocubes, they have a built in area for refugiums in the back right?

I think if your sole concern is algae an algae scrubber would be the most simple, but I think a refugium would be more fun!

I was told it would be normal to have some algae growth, but by the time I noticed there being a little too much, it was too late. I removed all of the algae I could see, but there was still some left.

Yes, it is SW.

That's what I was thinking too. An algae scrubber would get the job done very well and efficiently, but there wouldn't be any fun with it.
