I cant make up my mind between these two. I started wanting Regani then Hartwegi, but after seeing the Regani that jgenty got from Conkel, I'm back to them. I know I had a similar thread about a month ago, but I've never it down and have the money now. If you have either of the fish, could you please post some pics. I meant to make it a poll, but got distracted by the kids, sorry.

Depends upon what type of fish you are looking for. The Hartwegi are a little more aggressive and have more of the Parathreps shape. The Regani are more of an elegent looking fish with more natural looking colors but yet are still extremely colorful.

Personally I'm not a hartwegi fan, but I do not really like the syns, or bifa's or really any of those fish other then the Fene's. To me the Regani are just a much more natural looking stunning fish. It would be very hard for me to recommend a Hartwegi over a Regani.

I would agree. The regani has a nice, unique look, especially as they mature. I companion recommendation siimilar to the regani would be the argentea - as earlier said, both are elegant looking.

That said, I have hartwegi and love them.

I'm sure you saw this, but some nice regani from dct

They would be going w/ some Guttulatus in my 150. Be like two of each in there. I just want something nice and colorful b/c that would make my wife happy. And anyone that's married knows how that goes...

would def go with regani, they are SWEET and hard to beat in the color department (synspilum would also be great colorful fish to add:))

This probably isn't the case with all Regani as each fish is different but I've had 2 different Regani over the years and both were more on the mellow side for Vieja's. I think thats why I like them so much. Its a little bit easier to choose tank mates. I agree with some of the above comments, very elegant fish.
