At The Antipodes
Now I've seen this fish in local fish stores for years, from time to time. Called Baby Whale, Blue Torpedo Cat, & whatever else, I've researched it on Catfishplanet and fishbase.org. But what I really need is some first hand knowledge on this fish. Is it fragile? is it territorially aggresive? is it fenicky? can it be housed with other fish? doe's it have teeth? In reading about it's feeding habits, it's mentioned that this speicies has been known to take mouthsized bites out of some of the large bottom dwelling catfish in it's found region. Anyone!! :help2:

They're not fragile but, being a deep water riverine species, these cats require ultra-clean water parameters and very high DO levels. These cats are carrion feeders and their mode of feeding is a little unusual. They tunnel into larger animals and eat from the inside out. They really need to be in a species only tank since tankmates will be harassed until stress kills them and they become the next meal on the cat's menu.

they have one in my lfs for 49.99 i always wanted to know what it is...

my local petco here in california has some baby whales for sale. they are going for 12.99. maybe a mislable?
