I had purigen (250ml) in my FX5 and it worked great.
I am now regenerating it cuz it became brown.
I soaked in in 1:1 bleech to water overnight and it went back to the original colour no problem.

I then dechlorinated it for 8 hours with my dechlorinator (Hozelock enough for 30gals of tap water in a 3 litre tub) and it still smells like bleech so I don't want to put it back in my filter yet.
I dechlorinated it again overnight and it still smells like bleech.

How do i get rid of the bleech (chlorine) si I can put it back in my filter?
Is there anyway of knowing when it is safe to put it back in the filter without a chlorine test kit?

bleach and filter media don't go with each other ever

Actually they do in this case.

Suggestive comments only please.

When I regen my purigen I use prime. The recommended dosage is enough for around 1000 gallons I think.

Thanks.

Thats a lot of dechlorinator!

Yeah, it actually took about 1500 gallons treatment of prime for 1/2 liter of purigen.

Do you use a PH buffer after recharging?

I have Purigen that needs recharging soon. I don't know if I should order the Neutral Regulator buffer or not. The directions for recharging Purigen suggest using it. Does it make a difference?

They recommend it but that I think is more for if you want to use it for saltwater, or african rift lake pH.
