Regenerative blower question

Im looking to upgrade my air system in my fish room, and I picked up a blower in a deal. I was wondering if its safe to build a box to put around the blower to help muffle the noise?

I would have the air intake and output sticking out the top of the box

I am fairly certain the blower needs to dissipate heat so I wouldn't build a box around it. Is there anywhere you can locate it away from your fish room?

I can put it in the fish room, or just outside the fish room as its in the garage, but the slight hum you can hear it thru the garage door and I dont want to upset the neighbor
